See Yourself In Different Colour
HOUSTON - Astronaut Mark Kelly will resume its place in the crew as mission commander of STS-134 space shuttle Monday next February 7.
He skipped some training as Kelly has been on leave for personal reasons with effect from January 8 to care for his wife, Gabrielle Giffords , which had been severely wounded in an assassination attempt in Tucson, Arizona (see link on name).
"I can not wait to join the staff of my mission STS-134 and end our training mission," Kelly said. "We have prepared for more than 18 months, and we are ready to deliver the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) for the International Space Station and complete the other goals.
thank you for the trust that NASA and my equiopaggio me granted.
"We are very happy to get back with us, Mark!" Said Peggy Whitson, director of the Astronaut Office of NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston.
"He is a veteran commander of the Shuttle and knows well the needs of the job. We are confident in its ability to successfully conduct this mission, and I know I speak for all of us at NASA to say 'welcome back!'.
A message that can not help but cheer us all, both because it is obvious that the conditions must be improved because his wife is having to replace the commander of the mission is not something to be hoped.
Congratulations Mark!
